May 11, 2005 | With Republicans poised to detonate the nuclear option on the judicial filibuster, Princeton University students' ongoing mock-filibuster crossed the two-week mark yesterday. Participants are celebrating the occasion by relocating the protest from outside the school's Frist Campus Center -- yes, the one named for Bill "let's go ahead and nuke 'em" Frist -- to outside the Republican Senate Majority Leader's office in Washington, D.C. About 50 Princeton students -- joined by U.S. Rep. Rush Holt, D-N.J., and other supporters from Howard University, Georgetown University, Trinity College, George Washington University and American University -- will filibuster for 24 hours starting Wednesday, concluding with a press conference on Thursday morning. The protesters will then return to campus to finish out finals week.
