Jeff Gannon: Hot or not?

Feb 25, 2005 | As Eric Boehlert mentions this morning, the man formerly known as Jeff Gannon has re-launched his Web site -- and we don't mean hotmilitarystud.com. Gannon's "journalism" site is back up at jeffgannon.com; internet entrepreneurs should take note that jeffguckert.com is available from Go Daddy for $8.95 a year.

On the new version of the Gannon site, you can check out what looks to be a Photoshopped photo of Gannon posing -- fully clothed -- in front of an American flag, and you can read entries like "Bruised but not Broken," "Gannonblog," and -- in a monument to good taste -- "Fear and Loathing in the Press Room."

In the latter, Gannon gets at the real reason that lefties are so troubled by Gannongate: They don't like his politics, but they think he's kind of hot. Without exactly denying that he's the guy lounging about naked on those gay-escort Web sites, Gannon says that liberal bloggers "dug deep for dirt, dredging up things long past and erecting a fantasy world worthy of a Vince Flynn novel. What they found is domain names and sexy pictures from which sprung rumors and conspiracy theories. Based on some of the emails Ive received, many of these people were conflicted with hatred for my politics and tingling they experienced while viewing pictures said to be me. "

It's all about the hypocrisy, Gannon says. "If I had been a liberal reporter with the salacious past now attributed to me, I would be the Grand Marshall of the next Gay Pride Parade as well as a media darling, able to give softball interviews. But because I am a conservative, they continue to try to smear me with allegations of behavior that they otherwise would vigorously defend."

We're not sure how many liberals would "vigorously defend" escort services, gay or straight. As for that "tingling" business -- sorry, Jeff, but we only have eyes for one man.
