Buffy saves the world for the last time -- for now -- in a rerun of the season finale of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (9 p.m., WB). The series opens its new season on UPN (with Sarah Michelle Gellar coming back, somehow, as Buffy) on Oct. 9. On a rerun of The West Wing (9 p.m., NBC), Sam and Toby are dispatched to retrieve a Supreme Court nominee from jail. Vanished: The Cold Case of Kathie Durst (10 p.m., ABC) examines the suspicious disappearance of the wife of a New York real estate heir. Cartman gets his own theme park on a new South Park (10 p.m., Comedy Central). Jiminy perplexes and annoys Damon Wayans and Paul Shaffer on Primetime Glick (10:30 p.m., Comedy Central).

Specials

Planet of the Apes: Rule the Planet (8 p.m., Fox) plugs the upcoming 20th Century Fox remake. The Media Borg strikes again! Jon Stewart and Bob Dole look back over past seasons on the Daily Show 5th Anniversary (11 p.m., Comedy Central).
