Series

Ed (8 p.m., NBC) repeats the one where Carol dumps her pompous author boyfriend. Nick at Nite is still doing its Revenge of the '80s (8:30 p.m., Nickelodeon) thing; this time, it's an ALF marathon (8:30 p.m., Nickelodeon), featuring everyone's favorite shaggy, freeloading space alien. On Bette (8:30 p.m., CBS), the diva seems strangely oblivious to the fact that her show has been canceled, and that her husband now looks exactly like Robert Hays. On a rerun of The West Wing (9 p.m., NBC), the staff urges Bartlet to call a lame-duck session of Congress to try to pass a test-ban treaty, and a tipsy Russian shows up at the White House and won't leave. In case you missed it Sunday, you get another chance to catch the two-hour season opener of The Sopranos (9 p.m., HBO). On Once & Again (10 p.m., ABC), Grace and Jake are taken hostage at a restaurant by Brian Krakow from "My So-Called Life." OK, by the actor who played him. George Clooney makes with the sports talk on On the Record with Bob Costas (11 p.m., HBO).

Specials

Craig Kilborn hosts the TV Guide Awards (8 p.m., Fox), in which you, the public, voted for the year's "best" shows and performances. The "best new series" category is a particularly tough one -- "Bette" and "The District" are both so deserving. The new TV movie Love and Treason (9 p.m., CBS) stars Kim Delaney ("NYPD Blue") as a Navy officer working with the FBI to find her ex-husband (David Keith), a convicted spy who has escaped from Leavenworth.

Kings at Suns (8 p.m., TNT)
