Savage days, Savage nights

MSNBC hires "brash" and "smart" shock jock Michael Savage. Here's a sneak peek at what you're in for.

Feb 13, 2003 | On Tuesday, MSNBC president Eric Sorenson announced a new addition to his cable news network's lineup, which includes Chris Matthews, Phil Donahue and the recently hired Jesse Ventura. "Michael Savage," Sorenson announced, "is brash, passionate and smart. His conservative point of view adds to the kaleidoscope of perspectives already heard on MSNBC."

Michael Savage's San Francisco Bay Area-based radio show is broadcast on 300 stations. Savage's book, "Savage Nation," is the No. 1 bestseller in America. Savage is a "world famous herbal expert," according to his Web site. Savage describes himself as an "independent-minded individualist." Savage's birth name is actually Michael Weiner.

Is he "brash" and "smart," as Sorenson claims? He recently appeared on Fox News' "Hannity & Colmes." You can view some of it for yourself by clicking right here. We report, you decide!
